Gatwick is far about 44 km from London and is the second biggest London airport after Heathrow.
Its 2 terminals welcome about 30 millions of passengers per year and 70 airlines which fly to over 200 different destinations.
Gatwick was born in 1931 as private airport owned by the Home Counties Aviation Services.
During the Second World War this airport has been used as militar airport. It have been using as civil airport since 1946.
In 1953 the English Government decreed that Gatwick should have been the second airport in London: for this reason it was closed and officially re-opened in 1956 after have been transformed in a modern structure with high sophisticated equipments.
Lots of planes leave from Gatwick to the United States and to Caribbean islands.
The cheapest way of transport is coach service, which reach central London (Victoria Station).
