Buckingham PalaceBuckingham Palace is the main residence and the office of the Queen in London. It has been opened for the first time in 1993 and it is a very famous place mostly visited in summer.
Originally Buckingham House, it has been transformed in a palace in the 18th century. The first member of the royal family who lived in Buckingham Palace was Queen Victoria.
Today, Buckingham Palace is one of the most visited attractions in London particularly after the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, celebrating her 50 years on the royal throne of England, which marked the year 2002.
Moreover, thousands of tourists gather in front of the railings to assist to the changing of the guard. The changing of the guard occurs every day in the yard of the palace, along with the music played by an orchestra.
The royal guards are dressed with a red tunique, a red pant and a huge black furred hat and stand at the entry of the Palace. When they have to change the guard, they march to the Mall and the former guards let place to the new one.
