The Queen Elizabeth IISince 1066 all English monarchs are descendants of William the Conqueror, who was part of the Norman's generation.
At the moment of the succession of crown it's the monarch's eldest son who inherit of the crown.
The rules of succession are precise and strongly favour men over women, but since 1553 we have been count 6 queens who reigned over England.
At the beginning of the monarchy the power of the king was absolute, indeed he owned all the three powers: legislative, executive, judicial. Today the queen play a role rather symbolic.
The Royal Family stay very important for English people.
